The Chemistry of Replication
Standard commercial printing uses 4 colors (CMYK) to approximate an image. This is sufficient for signage, but unacceptable for art. At Abbot Art, we do not approximate; we replicate. We utilize an advanced 12-color pigment dispersion system that engineers the image on a molecular level.
Spectral Accuracy
Our system goes beyond the standard spectrum by utilizing dedicated Red, Blue, and Photo Gray channels. This expands the Color Gamut Volume significantly, allowing us to hit vibrant hues and subtle gradients that standard printers simply cannot physically produce.
D-Max & Optical Density
We achieve the deepest possible blacks (D-Max) on matte paper through a specialized Chroma Optimizer coating. This eliminates "bronzing" (the metallic glare seen on dark ink) and ensures that black looks like void, not reflective graphite.
Micro-Encapsulation
Unlike dye-based inks that soak into the paper and fade, our Pigment Inks are microscopic solids encapsulated in resin. They sit on top of the paper fiber, creating a structural bond that resists UV radiation and humidity for over a century.

Technical & Trade FAQ
For optimal crispness, we recommend 300 DPI at the final print size. For very large format prints (over 24x36"), 150-200 DPI is often sufficient due to viewing distance. We accept TIFF (preferred for quality), JPEG, and PDF. We utilize Adobe RGB (1998) color space.
We operate a fully color-managed workflow using custom ICC profiles for every paper stock. We recommend calibrating your monitor. For critical editions, we strongly suggest ordering a small "hard proof" strip before running the full edition to ensure the colors match your vision.
Our Canon Lucia Pro 12-color system can print up to 60 inches wide by nearly any length (up to 100 feet). This allows for massive, gallery-scale statement pieces without seams.
